NotesThe first printed edition was published in Foligno, Italy, by Johann Numeister and Evangelista Angelini da Trevi on 11 April 1472. Of the 300 copies printed, fourteen still survive. The work is best known nowadays as "Divina Commedia" ("The Divine Comedy" in English), but it was originally titled just "Comedia". The adjective "divina" was first attached to the poem by Boccaccio in his work "Trattatello in laude di Dante". It wasn't used on a publication until in 1555 on "La Divina Comedia di Dante" (edited by Ludovico Dolce, published by Gabriel Giolito, Venice). It is divided into three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso.
