Novelization of the same named movie (1954), directed by Jack Arnold.
The book is the second (out of six) in the Universal Horror Library (UK editions as The Classic Library of Horror), which was published 1977 / 1978 under the pen name Carl Dreadstone, each including an introduction by Ramsey Campbell.
Three of the books were written by Mr. Campbell himself, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Werewolf of London by Walter Harris, only the identity of the author of The Mummy remains unsolved.
Three of the novels (one of them Creature from the Black Lagoon) were reissued in 1980, omitting Campbells introductions and using the pen name E. K. Leyton instead of Carl Dreadstone.
