Das Kapital. Kritik der politischen Ökonomie (known in English as Das Kapital, or as Capital. Critique of Political Economy) by Karl Marx is a foundational theoretical text in materialist philosophy, economics and politics. The work consists of three volumes published over a period of 27 years.
The first volume titled Das Kapital. Erster Band. Buch I: Der Produktionsprocess des Kapitals (English: Capital. Volume I: The Process of Production of Capital) was published in 1867. The second volume titled Das Kapital. Zweiter Band. Buch II: Der Cirkulationsprocess des Kapitals (English: Capital, Volume II: The Process of Circulation of Capital) was published in 1885. The third volume titled Das Kapital. Dritter Band. Buch III: Der Gesammtprocess der kapitalistischen Produktion (English: Capital, Volume III: The Process of Capitalist Production as a Whole) was published in 1894.
