| Notes | The novel 'Das Versprechen' (The Pledge) is closely related to the 1958 film 'Es geschah am hellichten Tag' (It happened in broad daylight), directed by Ladislao Vajda. Both the screenplay and the novel are based on an earlier version of the narration, that Dürrenmatt provided for the film, but that he later altered for his novel. Sean Penn's 2001 film 'The Pledge' is an adaptation of the novel. |
