«Портрет» (English: "The Portrait") is a short story by Nikolai Gogol, originally published in the short story collection Arabesques in 1835. The text was significantly revised in late 1841 and early 1842, and was published in the journal Современника (Sovremennik), 1842. This story is part of the series of narratives known as the Петербургские повести (English: St. Petersburg Tales).
