NotesLe Morte Darthur (also known as Le Morte d'Arthur) is a reworking of existing tales by Sir Thomas Malory about the legendary King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin, and the Knights of the Round Table. The 1485 Caxton edition was divided into 21 books and 508 chapters. In June 1934, a more complete manuscript copy, the Winchester Manuscript containing 8 books, was discovered at Winchester College.
