| Notes | "Heinrich von Ofterdingen" is a fragmentary novel by Novalis, written in 1800 and published posthumously in 1802 by Friedrich Schlegel. Conceived as an "apotheosis of poetry" the novel is one of the first great examples of the 19th century Romanticism movement and its leitmotif of the "blue flower" was soon employed as romantic literature's central topos. |
