Novelization of the movie of the same name, directed by Peter MacDonald, screenplay by Sylvester Stallone and Sheldon Lettich, based on characters created by David Morrell.
Morrell added a note at the beginning of the book, stating the novel is not a sequel to his 1972 original novel First Blood but to it's 1982 movie adaption and it's sequel, as some plot elements wouldn't fit to the former.
Morrell's contract included that only he was allowed to write novels with the character of John Rambo, so the producers could not hire any other author to adapt the sequel movies.
