NotesCollection of short stories, modeled after Boccaccio's Decameron. It is significant as often being called the first European storybook to contain fairy-tales. First published in two volumes containing a total of 73 stories. The first volume, published in 1550, contained 25 stories (the first five nights), and the second volume, published in 1553, contained the remaining 48 stories (nights 6-13). In 1555 the stories were published for the first time in a single volume in which one of the tales (Notte ottava. Favola III) was replaced with two new tales (Notte ottava. Favola III and Notte ottava. Favola IIII), bringing the total number of tales to 75.
