Notes"L'abbé Agathon" is a work for vioce and strings by Arvo Pärt. The original version is scored for soprano and 8 violoncellos and was commissioned by L'Octuor de Violoncelles de Beauvais who first performed it together with Barbara Hendricks during Recontres d'Ensembles de Violoncelles de Beauvais on 5 May 2004. On 10 July 2005 Berit Barfred-Jensen and the Camerata Salzburg premiered a second version for 4 violas and 4 violoncellos during the Carinthian Summer, with Erwin Ortner conducting. Both scores were published by Universal Edition.
