A 12th century attempt at chronicling the history of the Danish people. It consists of 16 books, of which the first nine deal with mythology and early history of Denmark, and the last seven are concerned with the medieval history.
The exact time when this work was finished is the subject of debate, but most scholars agree that it could not have been finished earlier than 1208, as it depicts events that happened during that year.
