NotesThe British edition of the Dr. Thorndyke Omnibus includes 37 stories, including six inverted stories. Three Dr. Thorndyke stories were omitted from the British version of this collection. The omitted stories are "The Mandarin's Pearl," "The Man with the Nailed Shoes," and "A Message from the Deep Sea." The American edition is The Dr. Thorndyke Omnibus: 38 of His Criminal Investigations as Set Down by R. Austin Freeman (New York: Dodd, Mead, 1932). The American edition adds one story, "The Mandarin's Pearl," omitted from the British omnibus.
