John Bennett
American novelist, artist, essayist, poet and illustrator, most notably of children's books. He is known of his stories based on black folk tales, especially those drawn from Gullah culture. He is considered a leading figure of the Charleston Renaissance. Born: 14 May 1865 in Chillicothe, Ohio Died: 28 December 1956
