John Duncan (2)

English writer and journalist, born in London but raised in Leeds. He wrote for and co-edited the football magazine When Saturday Comes in the late-1980s and 1990s. He joined the Guardian as a sports writer, in 1992. In 1997, he moved to Cuba to write a book about Cuban boxing. He returned to London in 1998 and joined the Observer as sports deputy editor and then production editor. In 1999, he was appointed managing editor and general manager.
