Varlam Tikhonovich Shalamov (Russian: Варлам Тихонович Шаламов) was a Russian writer of the Soviet era. He survived a total of 17 years in the Gulag. His most famous work is Колымские рассказы (Kolyma Tales), a collection of short stories about life in the labor camps.
