Elias Boudinot (born Gallegina Uwati [ᎦᎴᎩᎾ ᎤᏩᏘ], also known as Buck Watie) was a writer, newspaper editor, and leader of the Cherokee Nation. He was a member of a prominent family, and was born in and grew up in present-day Georgia.
