Elizabeth Sowle Bradford
Elizabeth Bradford (1663?-1731) was born to a Quaker printer in London, and she married her father’s apprentice, William Bradford, in 1685, the same year the couple set off for Philadelphia. She eventually settled with William in New York, where they established a thriving printing business. When they printed an edition of War with the Devil (1707) by Baptist minister Benjamin Keach, both Bradfords contributed poems to the volume. Elizabeth Bradford’s poem can be found in the Heath Anthology.
