William Smith

Scottish born priest who emigrated to New York in 1751. He joined the College of Philadelphia and was appointed a professor of logic, rhetoric, and natural and moral philosophy and was ordained an Anglican priest. He served as provost of the College until 1779 and again from 1789 to 1791, when the University of Pennsylvania was formed.
