Universitas Verlag

Founded as a subsidiary of Gyldendalske boghandel to cover the German speaking market. After some changes of ownership and World War II, Paul von Bergen reactivated the company under American license in 1946 and took ownership in 1952. Was bought by F. A. Herbig Verlagsbuchhandlung GmbH in 1972, moved to Munich in 1980. Was merged to the Austrian branch of the publishing company, Amalthea Signum Verlag GmbH, in 2007 and kept as an imprint until the end of 2013. The program and publisher series of Universitas were continued under the Signum label.
