Nicolae Ceaușescu
Nicolae Ceaușescu (26 January 1918 – 25 December 1989) was a Romanian politician and authoritarian communist leader of Romania from 1965 to 1989. He was general secretary of the Romanian Communist Party from 1965 to 1989 and President from 1974 to 1989, serving as the country's head of state from 1967 up to his trial and execution on 25 December 1989. Married to Elena Ceaușescu.
