Sleeping Bear Press

The Sleeping Bear Press is a small children’s book publisher based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Launched in 1994 as a regional press based in Chelsea, Michigan, they moved to children’s book publishing in 1998. Thomson/Gale acquired Sleeping Bear Press in 2002 and Gale was itself acquired by Cengage in 2007. Cherry Lake Publishing, a Mankato, Minnesota-based educational publisher, acquired Sleeping Bear Press in 2012.
