Simon Gikandi

Simon Gikandi (born September 30, 1960 in Nyera, Kenya) is a Kenyan Literature Professor and Postcolonial scholar. He is the Robert Schirmer Professor of English at Princeton University. He is known for his co-editorship (with Abiola Irele) of The Cambridge History of African and Caribbean Literature. From 1991 until 2004, Gikandi taught at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He began teaching at Princeton in 2004, and has also held positions at the University of Massachusetts-Boston (1987–91), Harvard University (1989-90), and California State University-Bakersfield (1986–87).
