Accel World

The second light novel series by author Reki Kawahara, and a bestseller in Japan that has been adapted into manga, an anime series and movie, and video games. Accel World was Kawahara's first submission to the Dengeki Game Novel contest in 2008. He originally planned to enter in 2002 with Sword Art Online, but the submission was too long, so he opted to publish it online instead. After winning the grand prize in 2008, Accel World began publication in 2009. Since then it has released 23 volumes in Japan, where it is frequently among the top best-selling light novels. It is currently being translated and published in the US by Yen On, a division of Yen Press.
