Cornell Woolrich
American novelist and short story writer. Between 1926 and 1932, wrote several Jazz Age novels influenced by F. Scott Fitzgerald. In the 1930s, Woolrich began writing crime fiction for pulp magazines, including Dime Detective and Detective Fiction Weekly. Between 1940 and 1948, Woolrich published the Black Series of crime novels under his own name, as well as additional novels under the Irish and Hopley names.
