Russian Special Operations Forces

Russian Special Operations Forces (Russian: Силы специальных операций, (ССО), tr. Sily spetsial’nykh operatsii, (SSO)) are components of Special Operations Forces Command (Russian: командование сил специальных операций, (KCCO), tr. Komandovanie sil spetsial’nalnykh operatsii, (KSSO)) part of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The formation of the unit began in 2009 during a large-scale reform of the Russian Federation Armed Forces (2008–2020).
