John le Carré

David John Moore Cornwell, best known by his pen name, John le Carré, is a British author of spy and espionage novels. He created the character George Smiley, a career intelligence officer with "The Circus," the British overseas intelligence agency. He is a central character in many of his novels. He has written the Karla Trilogy.
