A. Seydel Druck Und Buchbinderei
German printing and bookbinding company, founder of Deutsche Buchgemeinschaft in 1924. Originally founded 1922 as A. Seydel & Cie AG in Spandau / Berlin, closed in 1937. Rebuilt after World War II as Seydel Druck und Buchbinderei GmbH. Deutsche Buchgemeinschaft moved its headquarter to Darmstadt in 1951 and acquired the local printer May & Co. Nachf. as a subsidiary for Seydel in 1963. May & Co. went independent again, when Bertelsmann took over the Deutsche Buchgemeinschaft in 1988. The current A. Seydel & CIE, located in Darmstadt, founded in the mid 2000s, is a managing company, which supervised May & Co. until its liquidation in 2011.
