John Newbery

English publisher of books, often called called "The Father of Children's Literature", who first made children's literature a sustainable and profitable part of the literary market. He is commemorated by the John Newbery Medal, an annual award given by the Association for Library Service to Children to the author of "the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children."
