Dr. Paul Gilroy (born 16 February 1956) is a English academic, author and writer. He is currently Professor of American and English Literature at King's College London. He was previously Giddens Professor of Social Theory at the London School of Economics (2005-2012), Charlotte Marian Saden Professor of African American Studies and Sociology at Yale (1999-2005) and Professor of Cultural Studies and Sociology at Goldsmiths College (1995-1999). He also also written for numerous journals including Critical Quarterly, Ethnic & Racial Studies, Sight & Sound, Journal of Black Music Research etc. His books include There Ain't No Black in the Union Jack: The Cultural Politics of Race and Nation (1987).
