Edward Carpenter
Edward Carpenter (29 August 1844 – 28 June 1929) was an essayist, poet, socialist and early campaigner for the rights of homosexuals. He ran a self-sustaining market garden near Sheffield for many years and has come to be seen as a proto-environmentalist.
