Jean Rhys
Jean Rhys was born in Dominica in 1890 and in 1919 moved to Europe, living in London, Paris and Vienna at different times. As a writer she came to prominence in the 1920s and 1930s alongside other modernist novelists and short story writers. Her career as a writer enjoyed a revival in the 1960s when she wrote "Wide Saragasso Sea," a prequel to Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre".
