In 1971, Jackson took several guards and two inmates hostage in a bid to escape from San Quentin Prison. However, the incident ended with Jackson being shot and killed by a guard, in addition to the deaths of 5 hostages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Jackson_(activist)
