Working for Time Out (1988-1991), Just Seventeen (1992-94), Smash Hits (1994-95), NME (1995-2001), Oxford Mail / Oxford Times (2011-14), Stratford Herald (since 2015). Sutherland has also worked freelance since 2001 for publications such as Marie Claire, Guardian and New Look.
