The Three Investigators: Crimebusters

The Three Investigators: Crimebusters

In 1989 Random House decided to launch a new, updated version of The Three Investigators to compete with the successful Hardy Boys Casefiles books. The Crimebusters books were designed for a slightly older teenage reading audience. Jupiter, Pete and Bob are now 17 years old, drive cars, date girls and use technology and language current with the times. Eleven titles were published by six different authors or writing teams in a two year period. Two manuscripts were written but never published due to the abrupt cancellation of the series effective with the retirement of long-time Three Investigators editor, Eugenia Fanelli. • Hot Wheels (1989, by William Arden) • Murder to Go (1989, by Megan Stine & H. William Stine) • Rough Stuff (1989, by G. H. Stone) • Funny Business (1989, by William McCay) • An Ear For Danger (1989, by Marc Brandel) • Thriller Diller (1989, by Megan Stine & H. William Stine) • Reel Trouble (1989, by G. H. Stone) • Shoot The Works (1990, by William McCay) • Foul Play (1990, by Peter Lerangis) • Long Shot (1990, by Megan Stine & H. William Stine) • Fatal Error (1990, by G. H. Stone) Unpublished manuscripts: • Brain Wash by Peter Lerangis • High Strung by G. H. Stone
