Mariusz Zaruski

Mariusz Zaruski (born 18 January 1867 – died 8 April 1941) was a Polish army officer, photographer, painter, poet and writer. He attained the rank of Brigadier-General in the Polish Army, and was a pioneer of Polish sports yachting, an outstanding mountain climber, and explorer of the caves of Tatra Mountains. He was also a seamen, traveler, a conspirator, legionnaire and lancer in Polish cavalry. During his active life, he was a devoted social activist, sportsman and teacher.
