British freelance copywriter, computer journalist and author of books about camping, fishing and boating. In the '80s and '90s he edited PC User, What Personal Computer? and Computer Life. He’s written 13 books on subjects as varied as Windows Vista and Office 2007, fishing, family camping, boating for beginners, traditional D-I-Y, home science, making movies and Ray Mears-style outdoors survival. He’s also written thousands of articles for magazines and newspapers on Windows PCs and software, Apple Macs, the Internet, music, film and general entertainment.
He was on the editorial staff for the magazine publisher EMAP (1982-1993), Forward Publishing (1993-94), Ziff Davis Publishing (1994-96). Publications he has contributed to include Q, Empire, Daily Express, London Evening, Evening Standard, Guardian, Observer, Telegraph and Mail on Sunday.
