Spiral Scratch

Spiral Scratch

British record collecting monthly (later fortnightly) magazine that first came out in 1988, lasting until the early 1990s. Some editions came with a free vinyl 7" or CD. It tended to cover music from the late-1970s onwards, featuring more alternative / punk / post-punk / indie groups than the other UK magazine Record Collector. The magazine started out in a newspaper style, similar to the British weekly music papers, before taking on a standard magazine format. Towards the end of its life it reverted back to newspaper style, became fortnightly and the contents were more like a standard music paper and less about record collecting. The publisher also issued a sister magazine called Music Collector which covered more mainstream groups than Spiral Scratch.
