Bruno Contardi
Born in Salerno in 1953, he graduated in Rome with Giulio Carlo Argan, of which he was the favorite pupil. In 1978 he won the competition for art historian in the ministry for cultural heritage, he started working in Naples, at the Capodimonte museum. He was soon called to Rome, first to Castel Sant 'Angelo, then to the Superintendence for Artistic and Historical Heritage. Appointed superintendent in Milan in April 1998, he became an engine of the city's artistic revival. Great scholar of Caravaggio and Baroque, an expert of the centuries from the Renaissance to the eighteenth century.
