MTV

MTV (short for Music Television) is an American pay television channel, owned by Viacom. With its original focus on music videos, the show premiered on August 1, 1981. Several video disc jockeys (VJ's) were featured, as well as programs about the trends of music. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the channel's format has mostly been reality programming.
