Graffiti artist, born Enrique Torres in New York City's Hell's Kitchen in 1959.
By the time he turned 11 years old in 1971, the urge to write had taken over and he started to 'hit' the name Spiderman, in his building and the surrounding blocks. From there he invented his own super-hero tag name, Dr. Slick; changed it to Clu 2, and later to Hawk 44.
1972 is when 13 year-old Enrique would adopt the name Part, which was short and catchy, so it stuck with him.
Part One entered the subway graffiti movement in 1974 just after the foundations for piecing had been laid down. He began doing the bubble and mechanical styles of the era and by 1975-6 he truly came into his own. From 1977 to 1980, few writers could compete with him and his TDS partners.
Part One is still very active today, first and foremost as a graffiti writer, but in other areas of art and illustration as well.
