Pauline Smith

South African author, born in England but raised in the Oudtshoorn district of the Western Cape, South Africa. As a child she accompanied her father, a doctor, on slow drives by Cape cart to rural, isolated farms. She returned to England from South Africa when she was 18 and started writing not long after.
