Prof. Maarten Steenmeijer (1954) is an expert on the modern literature and culture of Spain and Spanish America. His areas of specialization are the modern literature and culture of Spain and Spanish America, literary translation and pop music. His current research concerns: literary translation as a form of creative writing; Spanish and Spanish-American literature in translation (especially in the Netherlands); the work of Javier Marías; rock life writing (pop accessories). In addition to being a scientist, Steenmeijer is active as a literary translator (modern Spanish and Spanish-American literature), literary critic (de Volkskrant), poet (This is not America) and writer. His book Golden Earring was published in the spring of 2004. Rock that doesn't rust.
