Giacinto Scelsi

Giacinto Scelsi (8 January 1905, in La Spezia – 9 August 1988, in Rome) was an Italian composer and poet. Most of his works are based around only one pitch, exploring various qualities of sound, such as timbre, dynamics and microtonal oscillations. Although trained in classical composition he rejected the principle of writing music and instead preferred to record himself improvising on the piano or the ondiolina, letting others transcribe the finished results.
