The "Gawain Poet," sometimes known as the "Pearl Poet," is an unidentified author of alliterative poetry written in 14th-century Middle English. The Gawain Poet wrote Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, Patience, and Cleanness. These works are known from a single surviving manuscript.
