The Furious Swampriders

The Furious Swampriders

It all started in 1990 when Tom THE PERC Redecker (The Perc Meets The Hidden Gentleman, The Electric Family, Taras Bulba) wanted to invite numerous guests from the then German indie scene to his planned solo album. The list became so long that Redecker overturned the concept and instead designed a new one: The Perc Presents THE FURIOUS SWAMPRIDERS. The songs should be different, like weird and angular, written or covered by yourself. No matter whether on acoustic guitar or synthesizer, whether folk, punk, rockabilly, krautrock or minimal beat. With the active support of the label manager of Strange Ways Records, Lothar Gärtner, the idea was implemented. Among others, M.Walking On The Water, Rumble On The Beach, Element Of Crime, Der Beat From Bagdad, The Strangemen, Billy Moffet’s Playboy Club, Ferryboat Bill, Die Mimmi’s, Romeos and many spontaneous projects that came together and recorded in the studio. There were e.g. Musicians of the Colossal Youth and East Zone Soup Making Cancer in the band Peter Messmer Experience again. The album was released on CD and double album in October 1990 and was an unexpected success.
