Detective Fiction Weekly

Detective Fiction Weekly

The magazine that became Detective Fiction Weekly was launched in September 1924 by Frank A. Munsey under the name Flynn's. The original editor was William J. Flynn, former Chief of the U.S. Secret Service. By 1926, the magazine was called Flynn's Weekly. The name changed to Flynn’s Weekly Detective Fiction in 1927. In 1928, the name became Detective Fiction Weekly, but Formerly Flynn's remained on the cover into the 1940s. World War II paper shortages led to the magazine being turned into a monthly named Flynn’s Detective, until cancellation in 1944.
