Teen idol Kavana, aka Anthony Kavanagh, grew up up on a council estate in Manchester. His father, Andrew, is a retired builder and his mother Rita, is a fortune teller and former pharmacist's assistant. His sister, Angela, 18 years his senior, lives in Cornwall where her husband, Clint, runs a hairdressing salon. After a brief career making hamburgers, Kavana was discovered by Take That's manager Nigel Martin-Smith. His first five singles all made the UK Top 40 and his debut album also hit the charts. Appearances on Top Of The Pops and touring with the Spice Girls, Boyzone and Peter Andre followed, and he was voted Best Male Artist in the 1998 Smash Hits poll.
