British publishing house. Originally started in 1811 by Vincent Novello (1781-1861). Novello's son, Joseph Alfred Novello (1810-1896) played an important part establishing the business, it became Novello & Co. in 1861.
In 1867, the title was changed to Novello, Ewer & Co., with the company establishing an office in New York as well as London. In the late-1800s, the London office reverted back to Novello & Co, however the New York office retained the name Novello, Ewer and Co.
In the UK it was incorporated as Novello and Company, Ltd. in 1898.
