Mouth Of The Rat
The first South Florida Punk zine, starting in late 1978/early 1979. 19 issues were released, with the final two issues having the titled shortened to just "The Rat." Founded by early scene fixture David (Daze) Parsons, who would move to NYC in 1980 to start the Rat Cage record store and then the label of the same name in 1982. Parsons considered the first location of the Rat Cage store at 171 Avenue A in New York City's Lower East Side to be the 20th issue of Mouth Of The Rat, catalog number MOTR 20. The record label then began with MOTR 21, the Beastie Boys' debut "Pollywog Stew" 7" EP.
