Ignotus

Ignotus

Ignotus Hugó (born. Veigelsberg Hugó) was a Hungarian poet, writer and journalist. He was the general editor in the first 20 years of the Hungarian periodical Nyugat. “Ignotus” was initially a pseudonym for its writings, but in 1907 he legally took his name first in the form of Ignotus-Veigelsberg Hugó, later in the form of Ignotus Hugó. He continued to sign his writings in Hungarian as "Ignotus" and his writings in German as "Hugó Ignotus" (the word Ignotus means ‘unknown’ in Latin).
